10 rushed to hospital after ammonia leak at Shah Alam factory

SHAH ALAM: Ten workers were rushed to hospital for treatment after an ammonia gas leak at a factory in Perindustrian Bukit Raja, Section 7, here today.
Selangor fire and rescue department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said an emergency call was received at 11.15am and firefighters who were sent to the factory found ammonia gas leaking from a gas storage tank valve.

He said eight women and two men, in their 20s and 30s, were taken to Shah Alam Hospital for further treatment.
“Work to repair the leaking valve is being carried out by the hazardous chemicals special team (hazmat),” he said in a statement today.
