BEAUFORT: A teenager has been remanded after he was found to have stolen money from the surau of a college here on Saturday night.

The 18-year-old’s activities were noticed by a teacher who received a notification from the closed-circuit camera (CCTV) recording at the surau.

Beaufort District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Ismail Abdullah, said the arrest was made following a report from the complainant who is also a teacher at the college.

“The complainant contacted the security guard on duty who managed to apprehend the suspect.

“Cash amounting to RM228.20 was found in the suspect’s bag believed stolen.

“The surau’s moneybox and tools used by the suspect were confiscated,” Ismail said.
