5,840 can’t leave Sabah for abroad

Azrul advised taxpayers who have arrears and are subject to travel restrictions to settle the payments or contact the LHDN office that handles their tax files to negotiate payment instalments so that they can go overseas.
Kota Kinabalu: A total of 5,840 individuals and 946 companies in Sabah are unable to travel abroad due to tax arrears as of December 31, 2023.
Sabah Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) Director Azrul Hisham Shamsudin said the total tax arrears for the individual category was RM285,435,482.

“While for the company category, the total accumulated tax arrears is RM 763,721,899.05,” he said when met at the Kompleks Bersepadu Kementerian Komunikasi dan Digital Malaysia.
He advised taxpayers who have arrears and are subject to travel restrictions to settle the payments or contact the LHDN office that handles their tax files to negotiate payment instalments so that they can go overseas.
“Taxpayers are advised to go to the LHDN office to discuss and find the best solution,” he said.
He added that under the e-taxation services empowerment, 19 services must be conducted online using the MyTax portal.

“These include e-Registration, e-Company/Individual Profile Update, e-Estimate, TAeF, E-KYC, e-PCB, e-CKHT 502, MITRS, e-Filling, Stamps and Company e-BNT.
“Customers must also use the MyTax portal for e-CP55D, e-CP39, e-Data PCB, e-Data Praisi/e-CP8D, e-Resident, and e-SPC Individual/other than Individual.

If they have trouble filling out the online form, they can seek assistance from an officer at the nearest LHDN, he said.
