Kota Kinabalu: G&A Group, an accounting, tax, and business consultation company associated to the Baker Tilly Network, and certified IT remanufacturer Rentwise have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to spearhead a collaborative initiative aimed at promoting carbon-neutral remanufactured computers in Sabah.

G&A Group founder Datuk George Lim said the joint effort is specifically designed to benefit micro, small, and medium businesses (MSMEs) in the region, enhancing their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) profile that is crucial to drive business growth today.

“The signing ceremony, which marks the formal commencement of a partnership between G&A Group and Rentwise represents a commitment to fostering sustainable practices within the Sabah business community,” he said in a statement, Friday.

By promoting the use of remanufactured computers, the partnership seeks to contribute to a circular economy, reduce electronic waste, and enable MSMEs to access affordable, high-quality computing solutions.

In context, 15 laptops’ carbon footprint is equivalent to a car’s. Through the adoption of remanufactured computers, Sabah’s MSMEs can easily and substantively elevate their ESG profiles.

G&A Group and Rentwise will provide consultative support to businesses seeking to fortify their sustainability practices, aligning with prevailing global ESG benchmarks.

Lim also said the partnership with Rentwise is a significant step toward promoting sustainable and responsible business practices in Sabah.

“By leveraging our expertise in accounting and business consultation, combined with Rentwise’s computer remanufacturing capabilities, we aim to empower MSMEs to make environmentally conscious choices while optimizing their operational efficiency.”

Rentwise Commercial Director Lanz Boo said their commitment to remanufacturing aligns perfectly with G&A Group’s vision for sustainable business practices.

“Together, we look forward to making a positive impact on the business landscape in Sabah,” he said.

The ceremony was witnessed by Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Datuk Roland Chia Ming Shen, Malaysia Entrepreneurs’ Development Association (PUMM) Chairman Patrick Chiam, and his Secretary General, Daniel Dea.
