PENAMPANG: About 200 runners are expected to take part in the Spirit of 85 Run, here, this Sunday (Jan 28).

Organiser Sabah Labuan Extreme Sports Fan Club President Steve Johnny Mositun said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam is scheduled to officiate the fun run.

“Spirit of 85 symbolises young adults aged 40 and below who have mostly entered the employment sector,” he said.

“The run aims to encourage recreational activities among this age group so that they will not put their focus solely on their work life.

“Aside from that, it can also be a good platform to bring the local community together.”

Besides Joachim, KDCA President Huguan Siou Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Perkasa Reality Chairman Christopher Mandut, and Telupid Assemblyman Datuk Johnnybone Kurum are also expected to attend the run.

The start-finish spot for the 10km run would be at the KDCA compound, here.

Runners can pick up their race kit at the International Technology and Convention Centre (ITCC), here, from 10am-8pm, on Saturday (Jan 27).
