Police are urging anyone with information regarding the case to contact Assistant Investigating Officer Sgt Alfred John at 013-2598557.
Tenom: Police are seeking witnesses in a hit-and-run case involving a black Perodua Aruz and six-year-old boy near the 7-Eleven in town, here, last Wednesday.

Tenom Police Chief DSP Hasan Majid said the victim had sustained injuries to both his legs in the 2.10pm incident.

“Preliminary investigations revealed the victim and his mother had just finished eating at a restaurant.

“The boy ran across the road. The mother only realised what had happened when a crowd started to gather.

“It was believed that a black Perodua Aruz hit the boy. The registration number is yet to be ascertained.

“The driver did not stop and drove away from the scene,” Hasan said in a statement on Monday.

He said the victim’s mother sent the boy to the nearby Tenom Hospital.

“No debris was found at the scene while CCTV recordings of the location are unclear.

“The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding the case to contact Assistant Investigating Officer Sgt Alfred John at 013-2598557.
