Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Water Department has taken a significant step towards enhancing public access to its services with the launch of the MyJANS application.

Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Shahelmey Yahya said since the country was hit by the pandemic in 2020, the digital wave has continued to storm the global community and has changed the landscape of people’s lives around the world.

“In line with these changes, the MyDIGITAL initiative has been launched by the Government in an effort to transform Malaysia into a high-income country driven by technology and digitalisation.

“At the State level, the State Government has introduced and urged the implementation of the Digitization initiative to the era of Smart Government through the 5A concept which carries the acronym “Accessible by Anyone at Anytime, Anywhere, by Any Mobile Device.

“Therefore, the Department’s approach to introducing MyJANS is very much in line with the government’s aspirations at both the state and federal levels.

“I am confident that the access of customers and the public to JANS will be easier with the existence of this application,” he said when speaking at the MyJANS launching ceremony, here, Thursday.

Shahelmey who is also the Minister of Public Works said that the application will open space and opportunities for the community to get the Department’s services anytime and anywhere without borders more easily, quickly and safely.

“Among the services provided in the application are water bill information, notices and complaints, among others,” he said.

Shahelmey hopes that the launch of the application will be a turning point for other government agencies, especially those under the Sabah Public Works Ministry, to join hands in making the country’s digitization agenda a success.

Meanwhile in Penampang, the Info On Wheels (IOW) Central Data Base Hub (Padu) implemented by the Sabah Information Department (JaPen) in collaboration with the Department of Statistics was implemented simultaneously throughout the State, on Thursday.

Sabah Information Deputy Director Supian Musa said a total of 25 vehicles were deployed in 25 districts to disseminate Padu information to the public until this March.

“The purpose of this programme is to update individual profile information in the face-to-face system, especially for the elderly who live in villages where Internet facilities are less accessible. Personal information contained in Padu is confidential and kept by the Ministry of Economy.

“Therefore, the public should not hesitate and procastinate because this information is very important in the government’s efforts to distribute targeted subsidies to the community in a more comprehensive manner,” he said.

He said that Sabah JaPen also helped the smooth running of the government’s initiative by providing computer and internet services at 25 People’s Information Centres in every district in addition to distributing pamphlets related to Padu to the public.

“Through this programme, we also provide computer services through the People’s Information Centre to make it easier for the community to get additional information about the latest initiatives of the Madani government.

“However, the public who want to know more about Padu and those who are not knowledgeable about the use of Padu can directly visit the counter provided by the Department of Statistics.

“In addition, in the leaflets distributed there are also 38 frequently asked questions and if there are still individuals who wonder and have doubts about this Padu, they can refer to the Digital Economy Center (PEDi) under the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC),” he said while leading Padu’s Special Info On Wheels  Programme held at Donggongon here.

He also called on the community around Ranau and Kundasang to attend similar programmes this Saturday and Sunday.

“We call on residents nearby to take this opportunity to get to know more about Padu and just by bringing an identity card, your personal information will be updated,” he said.
