Two illegals held for solar light panels theft in Tawau

The police confiscated the solar lamp that the suspect had stolen.
TAWAU: Two illegal immigrants suspected of stealing six sets of solar light panels worth RM6,000 at Jalan PPR Taman Sri Bukit Tawau, were arrested within 24.
District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the suspects, aged 31 and 50, were detained following a report at 4:35 pm on Tuesday.
ADVERTISEMENT The items involved several solar light panels and solar light poles.
One of the suspects attempted to escape but was caught after a struggle.
“Several stolen items, including two units of solar lights and four units of solar light panels, were found hidden in the bushes near a landfill,” Jasmin said.
He said both suspects and the seized items were taken to the police headquarters for further action, and the case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
ADVERTISEMENT Police also apprehended another illegal aged 47 suspected of being involved in the theft of an iron fence on Jalan Apas, mile 6.
The suspect had already sold the stolen iron fence to a scrap metal dealer.

The fence was recovered and the case is also investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
