Tuaran: The Sabah Government will ensure equal access to education for both urban and rural students through more conducive school facilities, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

He said this is in line with the State Government’s objective of prioritising education to generate a skilled, competitive and high-calibre workforce capable of spurring Sabah to a higher level of development.

He said this commitment to enhancing the quality of education is evidenced in the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan which is partly based on the core values of Human Capital Development and Well-Being of the People.

“Only through knowledge, skills and higher education can they (children of Sabah) succeed and compete, while contributing to the development of Sabah and its society,” he said during the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations (1963-2023) of Sekolah Kebangsaan Bundung, here, Tuesday.

Throughout his administration, numerous education initiatives have been provided for Sabahan students, from primary to secondary schools as well as tertiary level, to ensure access to higher education, he said.

“The State Government will also strengthen human capital development by allocating RM474.55 million next year to implement various educational and training programmes,” he added

Commenting on the issue of dilapidated schools in the State, Hajiji said the Federal Government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has prioritised the upgrading of infrastructure in such schools.

He also urged parents to ensure their children obtain a good education and to prevent them from falling prey to negative elements that could ruin their lives.

On the diamond jubilee celebrations, Hajiji hoped it would be a catalyst to inspire the school to greater heights and continue producing excellent students, academically as well as of good character, for the future of Sabah.

He also announced an allocation of RM200,000 to repair several facilities in SK Bundung which is categorised as a rural school with fewer students.
