Sipitang folks want action on damaged Celcom tower

SIPITANG: Celcom is urged to expedite the repair of the disrupted Internet connections in Long Pasia.

One of the residents, Jenifer Opai, said the residents in Long Pasia and the surrounding areas have been experiencing Internet disconnection since Nov 26.

The Celcom tower in Ulu Padas was believed damaged, affecting three other telecommunication towers.

It was understood that Celcom had been notified of the problem but had yet to do the necessary repair work.

“There are schools and health clinics here that need an Internet connection,” said Jenifer. Why does Celcom delay the repair works when it knows villagers depend on telecommunication for connectivity?

“What if someone is sick or passed away? They could not contact anyone outside their villages.

“And what if we get into an accident or our vehicles break down? We could not contact our families.”

She claimed the Kampung Mendulong-Long Pasia road is in terrible condition.

The villagers also appealed to the government to address this issue, especially Sindumin assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusoff Yacob and Sipitang MP Datuk Matbali Musah.
