TAMBUNAN: Keningau District Police Chief, Supt Yampil Anak Garai said police and community are equally important in maintaining peace and public order.
He said the role of volunteers is important in fostering a sense of security in the community in addition to the collective efforts of all levels of society to maintain security is a shared responsibility.

"The police introduced initiatives such as the Omnipresent Programme and emergency alerts to strengthen public safety,” he said in his speech at the Royal Malaysian Police Crime Prevention Programme with the Sunsuron Mukim Community, here.
He said active patrolling by volunteers, Rela and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) is to minimise crime rate in Sabah, especially in this district.
