Future bleak for these grads: Too many varsities offering performing arts courses
Rosnan said he was worried that the influx of performing arts students would cause the industry to become static.
Kota Kinabalu: Limited opportunities in the industry has resulted in Malaysia now having an abundance of jobless performing arts graduates, a senior official warned.

Deputy Director General of the Policy and Planning Sector at the National Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN), Rosnan Nordin, said approximately 4,000 performing arts graduates are produced each year.

“In Malaysia, we have so many public universities that offer performing arts courses and this does not include private higher education institutions.

“However, the workforce demand for performing arts graduates in the country is limited, maybe only 10 per cent. This contrasts with medicine and engineering for example, where demand reaches 80pc.
