Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Datu Anif Isaac Datu Asrah won a silver medal for Malaysia in the mixed doubles event at the Badminton Asia Under-17 Championship held in Chengdu, China over the weekend.
The 16-year-old partnered Dania Sofea from Johor gave a good fight before losing to China’s Liu Jun Rong and Chen Fan Su Tian 15-21, 21-19, 11-21 in the final.

The unseeded pair had earlier defeated Alexius Ongkytama Subagio and Riska Anggraini from Indonesia 21-14, 21-18 in the semi-final.
Anif also took part in the singles event but was eliminated in the first round after losing to Chinese Taipei’s Chen Yu Cheng in three sets 17-21, 21-13, 18-21 .
