SIPITANG: More than 1,000 Umno Sipitang members from 30 voting centres reiterated their insistence that they want Barisan Nasional (BN) to field an Umno candidate for the Sipitang seat.

The meeting here on Sunday involved the Umno Division, Women, Youth and Puteri wings. There were a total of eight delegates from Lumadan and one of them, Jamal Jakim, said that all delegates and grassroots members are against the nomination of a Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)/Bersatu candidate.

“If there are parties that want GRS here, we strongly object to that. Sipitang is a traditional Umno seat but the MP who won on the Umno-BN ticket jumped to Bersatu,” he said.
