Kota Kinabalu: The people have been urged to instil the spirit of patriotism and nationalism among the youths.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Datuk Dr Yakub Khan said through this year’s National Day theme, “Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama”, Malaysians must show their loyalty and love for the nation.

“As citizens of this country, we should be thankful and be proud that we are part of this independent and sovereign nation.

“We should be glad that we are living in a country which is peaceful and harmonious in line with this year’s theme,” he added.

He said it was therefore important that the young understand how lucky they are that our forefathers had already achieved independence for them.

Accompanied by the acting Director of Information, Supian Musa, the Minister then signed the Convoy Visitors Book. He also gave away prizes to winners of the Suara Merdeka.

Also present were the Deputy Director-General of KK City Hall, Rosnah Datu Tumai; Commander of the Navy Eastern Command, Commodore Datuk Sabri Zali; KK OCPD, ACP Mohd Zaidi Abdullah; and Daar Biskai @ Adam Malik of the Maine Department.
