Malaysian Family concept needs to be empowered to inculcate sense of belonging

KENINGAU: The Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) concept needs to be empowered and applied in various programmes at the school level to foster a sense of community and gratitude among students, said Assistant Minister of Works Datuk Robert Tawik.

The concept, introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob about a year ago, could also be a catalyst to develop the spirit of benevolence, peace, and harmony among students of different races, faiths and beliefs. “This concept could also enhance the school’s accomplishments and uphold the school’s good reputation as well as foster sense of belonging and community among Malaysians,” he said during the inauguration of SMK Keningau National Month celebration here Wednesday, which also mark the end of the Form 6 Student Orientation Week 2022/2023. The school will host a number of programmes to complement the National Month celebration and to achieve its goal to instil sense of patriotism and love of the country in younger generation, according to Robert.

In accordance with this year’s theme, “Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama,” the Bingkor Assemblyman noted that this celebration also aims to foster a sense of community and solidarity among Malaysians.

Robert together with Danny and senior assistants launched SMK Keningau’s National Day Month recently.

“I hope that all of the initiatives and activities put in place to make the celebration a success at the school level would be utilised by the students.

Robert also noted that the 2022/2023 Lower Form 6 Student Orientation Week, which took place last week, was an initiative by the teachers to give the students an early introduction to the subject package and the learning system at Form Six, which is unquestionably different from the learning system at the SPM level.

“This early exposure offers students the chance to be more physically and mentally ready to be more excited to get the greatest outcomes in the tests that are being held.

According to him, students would have more options to continue their education at the Institute of Higher Education if they receive high performance ratings.

Also present at the event were the Senior Assistant of School Administration and Acting Principal of the school, Danny Sulimin, Senior Assistant of Form Six, Abdul Gani Ajim, Senior Assistant of Pupil Affairs, Mohan Nair, Senior Assistant of Co-Curriculum, Gabrie Gumboh, Unit Heads of Form Six, teachers and students.
