KENINGAU: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) Sabah has prepared a strategy to reach a more comprehensive development of the people in an effort to increase the large majority in Keningau and win several more constituencies in the 2022 Parliamentary General Election (GE).

STAR deputy president Datuk Robert Tawik @ Nordin said his party took note of the new trend of Sarawak voters who preferred local parties, thus rejecting parties from outside. Both DAP and PKR were trashed at last week’s Sarawak elections with Sarawakians sending clear message that peninsula parties were not welcome in the State.

“We have also taken note of the impact of 18-year-old voters in the strategies and actions that have been arranged,” said Robert, who is also the Bingkor State Assemblyman.

Robert explained that, as a local party, his party has prepared machinery to increase the majority of STAR candidate for the Keningau Parliamentary constituency, Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan who is also the party’s president.

Robert, who is also the Assistant Minister of Works, stressed that his party has also organized work to achieve victory in several parliamentary constituencies that will be contested by STAR, including Pensiangan.

Robert said this after chairing the Bingkor STAR Division meeting today.

According to Robert, the large majority of more than 12,000 given by voters in the Tambunan, Bingkor and Liawan state constituencies to Dr Jeffrey in the last general election has had a big impact on the restoration of Sabah and Sarawak’s status in the Malaysian Constitution.

Robert added that STAR will continue its struggle goal which is oriented towards the restoration of the privileges of Sabah and Sarawak as desired by the leaders from Borneo during the series of negotiations and proclamations of the formation of Malaysia.

“Although STAR has achieved several goals of the struggle in the context of Malaysia and Sabah, many more things need to be fought for so that Sabah obtains a better distribution of the national budget to catch up with development lag,” he said.
