Kota Kinabalu: An unemployed man was sentenced to two months’ jail on Monday for trespassing into the compound of the State Mosque last month.
Md Rahmat Md Musneh, 26, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to committing the offence at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman here at 1.30am on April 7.
The prosecution informed the court that Rahmat was seen climbing the fence of the mosque from outside and walked towards the toilet.
A security guard who saw Rahmat trespassing into the area, apprehended him and handed him to police.
Rahmat was charged under Section 447 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to six months or fine of up to RM3,000 or both on conviction.
In another case, a 22-year-old woman was fined RM2,000 or three months jail for engaging in an online gambling using a mobile phone.
Aslilah Yohannah Damit admitted to committing the offence in a restaurant at Taman Kolombong in Inanam.
The court heard from the prosecution that a police team went to the place following the Ops Dadu information and saw a woman sitting outside the restaurant and was holding a handphone.
After investigations Aslilah was detained after an online gambling application was found in her handphone, which was also seized including RM171 found on her.
Aslilah was charged under Section 6(1) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953 which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or jail of up to six months jail or both on conviction.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old Filipino was charged with stealing one roll of poly pipes.
However, no plea was taken from Adzrul Boy after the charge was read out to him via a video conferencing proceedings.
Adzrul was accused of stealing the 145ft pipes belonging to one Joeldian @ Md Adian Juhari at 1.30am on May 2 this year at Taman Kemajuan Kg Likas.
The court set June 24 for mention of the case and ordered Adzrul to be remanded further following an objection from the prosecution as he has no identification document.
The charge under Section 379 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years or with fine or both on conviction.
