BEAUFORT: The District Public Works Department will do immediate maintenance and upgrading of four sections of the road in Kg Suasa, as well as another two sections of the road in Kg Bangkalalak, as highlighted in the Daily Express recently.

Lumadan Assemblyman Haji Ruslan Muharam, said the roads in both these villages need elevating by up to one metre so it would not be easily submerged by flood waters, especially during this prolonged rainy season.

“When the roads are flooded, villagers cannot pass through, their communication link and food supply are cut off. This rainy season is expected to persist until the end of this month,” he said when conducting a survey at the villages affected by flood, accompanied by Beaufort District Police Chief DSP Azmir Abd Razak and Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM) officials.

Earlier, Ruslan together with the Beaufort District Engineer conducted a survey of several easily flooded sections of the roads.
