Anwar didn't furnish names of MPs to back claim: Palace
Kota Kinabalu: Opposition leader Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim did not provide a list of MPs who he said supported him to form a new government, a National Palace spokesperson said.

Comptroller of the royal household Dato' Indera Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, in a statement, said Anwar presented a total of MPs who purportedly backed him in the 25-minute audience with the King.

"Therefore, Al-Sultan Abdullah has advised Dato' Seri Anwar to respect the legal process enshrined in the Federal Constitution," he said.

Meanwhile, Anwar issued a statement on his audience with the Agong today but did not comment of the result of the meeting.

Anwar said he had presented a "valid documentation of the firm majority of MPs" who supported him to the Agong and asked the people to be patient.

"Now is not the time for celebrations. There are no winners or losers today. The real victory is when we are successful in making Malaysia a progressive, prosperous, fair and harmonious country for all her citizens," said Anwar in the statement.

"Let us work sincerely together to rebuild our beloved country. Now is not the time to spread false information and rumours."
