MP offers help to Tawau Toraja to form association

Tawau: Kalabakan MP, Ma'mun Sulaiman, has offered his assistance to the Malaysian Toraja community here if they want to form an association for safeguarding the welfare and interests of their members. He said the interests and welfare of the community members who have become citizens of this country will be more safeguarded through the creation of a registered association. "We also hope the Toraja community who have unique cultural heritage will continue to preserve their culture despite being far away from their Tana Toraja in South Sulawesi, Indonesia," he said when met at traditional wedding of a Toraja couple, Yesita Musa and Henry Limba held at SRJK © Yuk Chin's hall here Monday.

Mai'mun also praised the effort by Toraja Malaysia community living in his constituency for still maintaining their cultural heritage including their traditional wedding. He said the uniqueness of the Toraja community in Tawau has the potential to be developed as tourism attraction like the cultures of other ethnic community in the district.
