Fire safety training for Sabah longhouses
Sabah: The Fire Safety Campaign and One House One Fire Extinguisher (1Rapi) programme will be implemented continuously for villagers in longhouses in Sabah.State Fire and Rescue Department Director Kamarulzaman Malik Abdullah said this is because the locations of the longhouses in Sabah are far from the fire stations.

"Knowledge is given to the villagers through this programme in which they are taught how to extinguish fire at its early stage of prevent it from spreading and growing.

"One House One Fire Extinguisher programme is a newly implemented programme at Kampung Silingai, Pagalungan Longhouse and it is the first programme that involves longhouses and second programme involving village," he said.

Meanwhile, the department also formed a Fire and Rescue Community in Kampung Silungai and is providing them with training to Fire and Rescue during emergencies in the village and nearby areas. – Eleanor Ruby
