Bingkor needs new clinic, hospital upgrade
Keningau: Bingkor township needs a new clinic to provide healthcare to residents around the area, said Bingkor assemblyman, Robert Tawik. He said the existing clinic is an old building and cannot cater to outpatients who come to seek treatment from this area.

"The present facility is not up to the standard for the public visiting daily for treatment," he said after submitting an application for the upgrading to Deputy Director General of Health (Public Health), Dato Dr Chong Chee Keong.

Dr Chong was on a working visit to the Bingkor health clinic building to look into the developments and problems faced by the staff on duty.

Robert said it was time for Bingkor to be awarded a more comfortable premises complete with health inspection and treatment facilities.

"Although the building is not the same as the hospital, what is important is the welfare of patients, especially those who come to seek treatment.

"I also hope that the Government, especially the Ministry of Health, may consider upgrading the old Bingkor health building," he said.

He believes this would save time and costs for residents in Bingkor who need not go to Keningau hospital.

Besides receiving outpatients for regular treatment, the clinic is also a place for mothers who are pregnant for examination and treatment. - Johan Aziz
