Jakim appoints first female deputy DG

Selangor: The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has appointed its first female deputy director-general of policy.The appointment of Hakimah Mohd Yusoff, which takes effect today, was to fill the vacancy left by Datuk Mohamad Nordin Ibrahim who became its director-general on May 17.In a statement by its corporate communications department yesterday, Jakim announced that Hakimah was the first female Islamic Affairs officer appointed to the position.

She started her career in the civil service in 1992 as assistant director in the Islamic Affairs Division in the Prime Minister's Department.Among her accomplishments in the halal hub division was putting the Malaysian Halal Certification on the global map.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

In 2016, Hakimah was promoted as director at Jakim's Islamic development division.She holds a degree in Syariah from Universiti Malaya and a Masters in human resources development from Universiti Putra Malaysia.
