Place two main health projects under Sabah: MP

Kota Kinabalu: The federal Health Ministry should consider placing the implementation of two main health development projects in Sabah under the State Health and People's Wellbeing Ministry, in line with Sabahans' aspiration for devolution of powers.Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin said the Penampang Health Clinic which is under construction and Sabah Dental Specialist Centre which is under the pre-construction phase should be supervised and monitored by the relevant state ministry.He said under the new State Government, health affairs in Sabah were given emphasis, which led to the establishment of the State Health and People's Wellbeing Ministry headed by its Minister Stephen Wong.

"According to a written reply by Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad to my question in the Parliament on Wednesday, the federal ministry plans to implement the Penampang Health Clinic and Sabah Dental Specialist Centre projects to further develop health facilities here."He further replied that the Penampang Health Clinic project has been approved and under construction. "The clinic will be providing emergency services, outpatient clinic, radiology, pathology and dentistry. Phase 1 of the project was completed on June 1, 2015, while phase two will begin soon.
