Saudi Speaker calls on Pandikar

Kuala Lumpur: Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia (pictured) Wednesday received a courtesy call from Speaker of Majlis Ash-Shura, Saudi Arabia Dr Abdullah Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Sheikh at the Parliament House here. The meeting between Pandikar and Abdullah which lasted about 30 minutes centred on efforts to strengthen bilateral ties besides exchanging views on the best practices adopted by both parliamentaries.

Abdullah later called on Dewan Negara President Datuk SA Vigneswaran. The speaker and his delegation are on a five-day visit to Malaysia, beginning Monday.

Abdullah is also a council member of Senior Scholars, Member of Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Vice-Chief Executive Office of Arab Ministers of Justice Council and Chairman of Al-Dawah Islamic Magazine Board Directors.

He received his preliminary certificate from the Muhammadiah school in Riyadh before being transferred to the Islamic Studies Institute. He was taught by his father, General Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the late Sheikh Mohammed Ibrahim, as he was the only one of the mufti's sons to live with him in the family home. – Bernama
