Jauteh also said PDRM will formulate and implement specific policies governing the use of AI technology and big data policing in an ethical and controlled manner, emphasising the protection of privacy and data security.
Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun revealed the Royal Malaysian Police’s (PDRM) strategic directions and transformation agendas for the year, including focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation.

“In the era of digital transformation, PDRM will expand the use of smart technologies and AI in investigations, surveillance, intelligence, data management and decision-making.

“It is firmly believed that the digitalisation of work processes, the strengthening of digital forensics, and the use of predictive analytics will enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of policing actions, as well as improve the quality of service delivery to the public,” he said in his speech during the monthly Police Commissioner Assembly, recently.

He said PDRM aims to implement comprehensive digitalisation across the investigation and prosecution process in order to enhance efficiency and transparency.

“The digitisation of case documentation, evidence management and case tracking can increase the speed and transparency of cases being handled, as they will be less prone to procedural gaps,” he explained.

Jauteh also said PDRM will formulate and implement specific policies governing the use of AI technology and big data policing in an ethical and controlled manner, emphasising the protection of privacy and data security.

“By establishing controlled frameworks, PDRM can leverage advanced technologies to enhance operational effectiveness while maintaining public trust, legal compliance and the protection of individual rights,” he added.

In order to strengthen operational effectiveness and public safety, Jauteh said PDRM intends to implement high-impact, people-oriented policing, ensuring complex crime threats are addressed in a holistic and sustainable manner.

“This involves precise risk-based crime prevention approaches, professional investigations, integrity-driven prosecution, and systematic traffic management.

“Efforts to combat organised crime, violent crime, cybercrime, and drug-related offences will be intensified, supported by rapid response and the use of data analytics to ensure comprehensive public safety,” he stressed.

Additionally, PDRM will implement a comprehensive strategy to combat transnational and cybercrime by strengthening international cooperation, enhancing intelligence sharing, and carrying out coordinated cross-border actions.

“This is to improve early detection and to ensure timely and effective responses to transnational and cyber threats, as well as to disrupt criminal networks,” he said.

The assembly also saw the presentation for the federal level PDRM Integrity Award, with a total of five recipients in three categories, namely Senior Police Officer, Senior investigating Officer and Police Civilian Personnel.

A total of 22 recipients were presented with the Sabah Police Commissioner’s Certificate of Appreciation. They represented various departments within the PDRM.

Also present were Criminal Investigation Department Head and Organising Chairman SAC Datuk Azmi Abdul Rahim and Internal Security and Public Order Department Head SAC Datuk Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek.
