PETALING JAYA: A former deputy minister and a former deputy director of a foundation have questioned recent remarks by economy minister Rafizi Ramli on the size of the civil service, saying they contradict the government’s plans for the sector.

PUTRAJAYA: The government will expedite the approval process for the new salary scheme for civil servants, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said today.

Kuala Lumpur: Economists greeted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s plan to discontinue the pension scheme for civil servants hired this year onwards with cautious optimism, calling it the first step towards fixing a pension system that has become a huge financial strain.
