Masiung said Tongod, being the largest district in Sabah with an area of 10,054 square kilometres surpassing the state of Kedah, will be able to realise this project if the Sabah Government agrees to the proposal.
TONGOD: Kuamut Assemblyman Datuk Masiung Banah envisions Tongod advancing as the nation’s first highland rice producer, following the successful establishment of a cement factory and a pig farming project in the district.

He said Tongod, being the largest district in Sabah with an area of 10,054 square kilometres surpassing the state of Kedah, will be able to realise this project if the Sabah Government agrees to the proposal.

He said this at the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Cluster Meeting at the Inarad Polling District Centre some 160 kilometres from Pekan Tongod.

He said the nearly 4,000 acres have already been cultivated through collaboration with local farmers, and an additional 20,000 acres are needed to establish Tongod as the largest rice producer in Sabah.
