Sindumin representative re-elected Paadian President

SIPITANG: Sinduman Assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob retained his position as President of the Persatuan Kadayan Sabah (Paadian) for the 2024-2026 session at the Association’s General Meeting here, recently.
He won the position unopposed. Also returned unopposed is Deputy President Ramlee Kariah, who is Chief Operating Officer of the Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat.

The three contested Vice President positions were won by Sani Gapar, Rafie Isa and Saridun Mohd Jinin.
Ramawi Palil, Adnan Othman, Ibrahim Muksin, Zaliha Baha, Azrin Sohaini, Jakaria Nayan, Azlinah Arif, Mohammad Zulfadhli Amir, Mohd Fauzi Jusmi and Raimah Mahdin were elected Supreme Council members.
Dr Yusof, who is also Qhazanah Sabah Berhad Chairman, said Paadian’s vision of preserving customs, culture and elevating the Kadayan people should continue to be the focus.
He said there is need to strengthen customs and culture, cultural dances and music through various platforms in line with current developments, especially through the use of social media.

“As for language, the Kadayan speech and dialect need to be practised by young people, especially at home,” he said.
He added that to elevate the Kadayan people, it requires Kadayan children to compete, especially in the public and private sectors, by holding important positions.

Therefore, he said, all association members need to play a role by providing support and participating in any activities by the association to ensure Paadian is not left behind compared to other race-based associations in the state.
Dr Yusof also hoped that differences in political understanding would not divide the unity among association members for the sake of elevating the Kadayan people.
He said Paadian’s stance is to support the current government.
