Sabah Assistant Minister of Community Development and People’s Wellbeing, Datuk Flovia Ng, said knowing family ties also helps prevent family members marrying each other.

“Apart from strengthening friendships among extended family members, we also want no family member to be separated from our extended family.
“This practice has many advantages, among which is it can prevent relatives with close family ties marrying each other without knowing they are related,” she said.
