Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Fisheries Department will re-activate its committee to combat fish bombing.

Its Director Azhar Kassim said the department, under the State Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Ministry, would re-activate the committee anytime to tackle fish bombing in Sabah’s waters.

“We are serious in combating the fish bombing activity. We have just carried out operations with the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) throughout the State,” he said.

He said the department would enforce the regulations under the Fisheries Act 1985 in tackling the activity.

“We admit such activity still occur, especially in the State’s east coast, but it is under control.”
