PETALING JAYA: The Johor state government has lodged a police report over statements linking the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, to a corruption case.

According to Johor menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi, the statements were regarding a RM20 million bribery case involving a divisional director of a division in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

The allegations have gained traction on WhatsApp and other social media platforms.

Onn Hafiz described them as “irresponsible, disrespectful, and insolent” and said the state government had filed a police report on the matter.

He urged the authorities to investigate and take stern action against anyone involved in spreading such seditious statements.

Onn Hafiz said the state will not tolerate any malicious attempt to tarnish the monarchy’s image.
