Closure order on three Anjung Selera food premises

The operation involved the inspection of food preparation and storage areas, the cleanliness of food handlers including anti-typhoid vaccination status and others.
Kota Kinabalu: The State Health Department (JKNS) issued four compound notices and ordered the closure of three food premises in an enforcement operation at Anjung Selera, Likas, on Thursday. Its Director Datuk Dr Asits Sanna said the operation involved 22 Kota Kinabalu Health Office’s Inspectorate Unit enforcement officers.
“The purpose of this operation is to ensure all food premises in the Anjung Selera, Likas area comply with the cleanliness requirements stipulated in the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009,” he said.

“The operation included inspections of food preparation and storage areas, food handler hygiene, including typhoid vaccination status, attendance records for food handling courses, health examinations and attire while handling food. During this operation, 14 food premises were inspected.”
He said the compound notices were due to failures to ensure premises were clean and food handlers did not possess food handling course certificates or typhoid vaccinations.
“The public is advised to choose clean food premises and always be mindful of food safety aspects,” he said. Asits also reminded all food handlers to practise clean and safe food preparation for the public.
“The public can contact any nearby District Health Office if they have any concerns regarding food safety issues,” he said.
