Kota Kinabalu: China Railway 14th Bureau is keen on investing in Sabah’s development projects.

Its Group Overseas Company Business Director Gong Fanghua conveyed this to officials from the BIMP-EAGA Business Council Sabah (BEBC-Sabah) in Jinan China, recently.

The meeting was aimed to explore potential cooperation and investment opportunities in Sabah.

BEBC Sabah Chairman Dr Raymond Alfred represented Allyssa Certification Sdn Bhd where he discussed various vital issues.

The discussions also involved members from the Group Overseas Company Market Development Department, including Vice Minister Sang Chengma, Fan Faliang, and Shan Hang.

The planned collaboration between the two parties is set to bolster the BIMP EAGA programme in the region, with a primary focus on the development of the Trans Borneo Railway in North Borneo.

This initiative includes the establishment of a dedicated team to support the pre-feasibility study for the railway project.

The study will encompass various aspects such as forecasting passenger and freight volumes, route alignment, technical standards, construction scale, investment costs, economic evaluations, and environmental impact assessments.

It was also highlighted in the meeting the importance of involving local professionals in the planning phase of the project.

It also emphasised collaboration with key local entities, including the SME Bumiputera Chamber of Commerce Sabah (SBCCS) and the Sabah Professional Council, to ensure the active participation of Sabahan professionals.

In addition to the Trans Borneo Railway project, China Railway 14th Bureau Group Corporation Limited is also considering investments in renewable energy projects and the establishment of a recycling centre for scheduled waste, focusing on refurbishing battery components in Sabah.

The collaboration between China Railway 14th Bureau Group Corporation Limited and local stakeholders signifies a significant step towards sustainable development and infrastructure enhancement in Sabah.

This strategic partnership is poised to drive economic growth, create employment opportunities, and pave the way for a more connected and sustainable future for the region.
