Kota Kinabalu: Sabah State Farmers’ Organisation (PPN) welcomes the appointment of Sabah-born Amir Matamin as the Malaysian Farmers’ Organisation Authority (LPP) Director-General, succeeding Datuk Azulita Salim who has retired.
Sabah PPN Chairman Datuk Mohd Nazri Abdullah said Amir is the first Sabahan appointed to the highest position in LPP Malaysia.

“I have known him since 1993 when LPP was established in Sabah,” he said in a statement, Monday.
At that time, he said, Amir exhibited commendable behaviour as a young officer.
Mohd Nazri is confident that Amir will assist Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohmad Sabu in achieving his mission to improve the living standards of all stakeholders in the agricultural industry.
“I also believe that Amir will revive the spirit of teamwork between LPP and PP, as he has done previously in Sabah.

“All PPK farmer members in Sabah hold him in high regard and affection, as Amir is an officer who has always been very good with the farmer members in Sabah.
“He has never been arrogant in exercising his authority over the farmer members. Instead, he has always approached them to discuss and find ways to resolve any issues that arise,” he said.
