LAHAD DATU: Tungku Subdistrict requires further development and essential facilities, such as a fire station and a multi-purpose hall, for the convenience of residents.

Parti Gerakan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) Tungku Division Chief, Datuk Abdul Hakim Gulan Hassan, said there is necessity for a fire station because Tungku is far from the district Fire and Rescue Station.

He said in an emergency, it takes time for firefighters to reach the area, underscoring the urgent need for the facility.

“Similarly, a larger hall is necessary as it can serve in time of disaster. This hall could provide temporary shelter for residents in case of emergencies.

"I hope the State Government can provide a spacious and suitable hall for the residents,” he said during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House at Tungku Mosque grounds, last Friday.

Abdul Hakim thanked the people for their warm reception and support to PGRS.

He said the party membership in Tungku is steadily growing, indicating the potential for the area to become a stronghold for PGRS in the next election.

He also thanked the community for their presence and support at the event, emphasising the importance of ceremonies like these in fostering unity and friendship among people of various races and religions, particularly in the Tungku.
