New records set at 71st Annual Athletics Championship

The Executive Committee and Technical Committee of the KOT–71.
Tuaran: The Department of Physical Education, Health and Co-Curriculum (JPJKK), Institute of Teacher Education Malaysia (IPGM) Kent Campus organised the 71st Annual Athletics Championship (KOT) at the Tuaran Sports Complex recently.
Physical Education Elective Students Intake June 2021/2026 and June 2022/2027 managed this tournament, assisted by Daniel Hedwig Chew as Tournament Coordinator, and Dr. Siti Norashikin Mastun as Tournament Director.

The KOT this time was inaugurated by the Deputy Director of IPGM Kent Campus, Haji Harun Haji Sarail.
Several records were broken among them Muhammad ‘Ammar Jaafar, who broke the record for the 400-metre event (59 seconds) and the 800-metre event (2 minutes 27.3 seconds) for the men’s category.
While for the female category, Joevivian Jamson from the Kadazandusun Language Unit June 2021/2026 Intake managed to set new records for the 200m event (28 seconds) and the 400m event (1 minute 5.6 seconds) for the female category.
This success qualified ‘Ammar and Joevivian to be crowned Sportsman and Sportswoman for KOT-71. Their achievements have inspired all IPGM Kent Campus residents to continue to be active in sports.

The tournament this time was further enhanced by the presence of invited guests from SMK Badin, SMK Tamparuli, and Tuaran Athletics.
The women’s category invitational relay was won by Tuaran Athletics and the men’s category by Kent Campus IPGM.
