Kota Kinabalu: Established retail giant Emart Hypermarket has confirmed its commitment to be the anchor tenant of Borneo Kemuncak Riang Sdn Bhd’s (BKR) upcoming development project, Boulevard 360 Bundusan.

This followed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Emart Holdings Sdn Bhd and BKR during the Propex Exhibition.

The MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Chief Minister cum Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam and representatives from the Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (Shareda).

The development signifies Emart Hypermarket’s second outlet in Sabah, further expanding its regional footprint and bringing its diverse range of products and services closer to the local community.

In an interim arrangement, Emart Hypermarket will operate temporarily at Boulevard 360 Bundusan sales gallery until the completion of the mixed development.

Upon completion of this project, E-mart will occupy approximately 50,000 sq ft as an anchor tenant to serve the Bundusan community.

Emart Holdings Sdn Bhd Managing Director Ngu Ting Sii said the company is thrilled to partner with BKR on the innovative mixed-development project.

“Our presence as an anchor tenant underscores our commitment to enhancing the retail landscape in Penampang and providing unparalleled shopping experiences to the community,” he said in a statement, Saturday.

BKR Director Lee Chee Kiang echoed Ngu’s sentiments, highlighting the strategic significance of this collaboration.

“Emart Hypermarket’s presence will add tremendous value to our development, making it a central hub for shopping and lifestyle in Penampang.

“We are excited about this partnership’s potential for the future.”

Shareda President Datuk Chua Soon Ping commended the collaboration, saying the partnership between Emart Holdings and BKR is a testament to the vibrant growth and dynamic opportunities within Sabah’s real estate and retail sectors.

“This mixed development project is poised to become a landmark destination in Bundusan, benefiting both businesses and the community at large,” he said.

The mixed development project, featuring a blend of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, aims to create a thriving community hub that meets the diverse needs of its residents and visitors.

Emart Hypermarket’s involvement as the anchor tenant is expected to draw significant foot traffic and enhance the development’s overall appeal.
