Water protest: Kota Kinabalu police warn of arrest
ACP Kasim said the gathering organisers and participants can be arrested without warrant under Section 9(1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
Kota Kinabalu: Any individuals, including Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) students, who assemble in #KamiMahuAir gathering today (Friday), which has no approval from the authorities, can be arrested by police.

City Police Chief ACP Kasim Muda said the gathering organisers and participants can be arrested without warrant under Section 9(1) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

He said the organiser of the illegal gathering may face a fine up to RM10,000 under Section 9(5) of the same Act.

“Actually there are three offences under Section 20 of the same Act where the organisers and participants of an illegal peace assembly can be arrested:
