Raping stepdaughter: Man gets 15 years,10 strokes

The offence under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of between 10 and 30 years, and whipping of at least 10 strokes of cane, on conviction.
SANDAKAN: A 39-year-old Indonesian was jailed 15 years and ordered whipped 10 strokes of the cane for raping his stepdaughter.
Sessions Court Judge Zaini Fishir @ Fisal meted out the sentence to the man who pleaded guilty to raping the 14-year-old girl at noon on May 5 this year, at an oil palm estate, here.

The offence under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code provides for a jail term of between 10 and 30 years, and whipping of at least 10 strokes of cane, on conviction.
After serving the jail sentence, the man was ordered referred to the Immigration Department for deportation.
The court was told that the victim followed the man to collect the palm fruits at the said estate where the rape took place.
The incident came to light when the victim revealed the incident to her grandfather (complainant) on May 28 this year.

The victim also told the grandfather that the man had threatened to kill her mother and siblings if she revealed the incident to others.
She said the stepfather had raped her several times since she was 11.

The complainant together with the victim’s family went to the accused’s house and asked about the rape incident which he admitted.
The man was arrested after the victim lodged a police report.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Bryan Francis appeared for the prosecution while the man was not represented.
