Missing Indonesian man found dead

TAWAU: An Indonesian man who was reported missing after going out to sea to collect anchovies at a bagang (traditional fishing platform) around Kalumpang waters on Monday evening, has been found dead on Wednesday.
Tawau Maritime Zone Operations Deputy Director Khairun Dalilah Baharin said the victim’s body was found 4.5 nautical miles southeast of Kg Inderasabah around 9.56am.

Ibnu Hajar Mustamar, 33, was found by local residents before the search and rescue team brought the body to Kg Inderasabah Public Jetty for identification and handing over to the police for further action.
“Our team initially received information via the Maritime Rescue Sub-Centre (MRSC) at 3.01pm on Tuesday,” she said.
She said the response team activated a search and rescue operation at 3.30pm to locate the victim who was feared drowned after his boat was found unmanned in Pulau Buatan waters by local residents.
“According to the complainant’s report, the victim was feared to have drowned after failing to return home the next day,” she said.
