Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Oil and Gas Services Council (SOGSC) on Wednesday clarified its non-partisan role and rebutted statements attributed to it in recent media reports.

In its statement, SOGSC categorically denied issuing or being consulted on statements that appeared in a June 11 article on KwikNews regarding alleged financial issues at Sabah Maju Jaya and Sabah Development Bank.

“SOGSC is a non-partisan organisation dedicated to supporting and strengthening the Sabah Oil and Gas Services Equipment (OGSE) industry,” the statement read.

“We provide a platform for collaboration and idea exchange among OGSE companies in Sabah through hosting industry forums, workshops and networking events.

The Council highlighted its role in facilitating skill development, business growth, advocating for Sabah-based companies’ interests and fostering collaboration between local firms and industry leaders like Petronas, Shell, PTTEP, Hibiscus Petroleum and KPOC.

Initiatives include mentorship programmes, business-matching sessions, supplier development programmes and on boarding for non-OGSE companies looking to enter the sector.

SOGSC also engages widely with business chambers and youth entrepreneurship groups across Sabah.

“It is important to clarify that SOGSC does not endorse any political affiliations or statements. Our focus remains on the economic well-being of our members and the advancement of Sabah’s OGSE industry,” they said.

SOGSC called for transparency, urging stakeholders to reach out directly for inquiries rather than relying on unauthorised statements.

The Council said “SOGSC” should not be quoted in political contexts without prior consent from its Executive Committee.
