Kota Kinabalu: A Sekolah Indonesia Kota Kinabalu’s trip to a beach in Karambunai turned tragic when a 12-year-old student drowned at the beach near Kg Bakasa, Tuesday.

Rescuers found the boy about 50 metres from where he was last seen at a depth of two metres at 10.25am, said a Fire Department spokesman.

The boy was pronounced dead by health personnel at the scene and was handed over to the police for further action.
