350 take part in Karnival Komuniti

Kota Kinabalu: A total of 350 city folks gathered to enliven the Karnival Komuniti @ KK organised by Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) at Plaza Sedco in Likas Bay on Saturday. 

The carnival was held as one of the efforts to increase the public’s level of awareness on the importance of environmental preservation, in addition to educating the community to be more responsible in maintaining cleanliness in conjunction with the World Environment Day celebrated on June 5 yearly.

The event which started as early as 7 am was filled with various activities such as the Wellness Fun Walk where participants have walked for 3km while carrying the message of caring for the environment while collecting trash on the way.

Mayor Dato’ Sri Dr Haji Sabin Samitah was present to handover prizes to the winners of the Colouring and Drawing, Children’s Fashion Show, Recycling,

Home Renovation and Invention competitions.

Also present were Datin Sri Hajah Adreen Aderizza Mohamad Soffi, Chairperson of Puspanita Kota Kinabalu City Branch; Robert B. Lipon, DBKK Deputy

Director General (Operations); Leong Tze Fui, Director of Solid Waste Management Department who is Chairman of the Program Implementation Committee, Mohamad Faizal Mohamed, General Manager of KPJ Sabah and Sedco CEO Haizar Razif Hisyam.
