PUTRAJAYA: Tourism Malaysia aims to record 220 million domestic visitors with an expenditure of RM88 billion this year, said its Director-General P. Manoharan.
Speaking to reporters at the launch of the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia Madani Exhibition for Civil Servants at Alamanda Shopping Centre Saturday, he said the target had already reached 25 per cent as of the first quarter of this year.

“To ensure these numbers continue to increase and achieve the set target, we will intensify tourism promotion activities across all segments of society.
“This approach indirectly encourages Malaysians to support the Government’s goal of making Visit Malaysia Year 2026 a success,” he said.
The three-day exhibition, which started on Friday, features direct sales of domestic tourism packages and theme park tickets to visitors.
Among the packages offered are the Duo Package by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad, island vacation packages to destinations such as Redang Island, Kapas Island, Perhentian Island, Lang Tengah Island, Tioman Island and Mabul Island, glamping, homestay and accommodations at hotels and resorts rated up to five stars.

Manoharan said the exhibition primarily targets civil servants to encourage domestic travel and spending, thus boosting local tourism and economic growth.
“Although this exhibition targets civil servants, it is also open to the public to get tourism package deals and entrance tickets at discounts of up to 30 per cent,” he said.
