Insert ‘Double Six’ tragedy into history syllabus: NGO
“Let this black moment in history be a memory and a guide for all of us,” Aloysius said.
Kota Kinabalu: The ‘Double Six’ tragedy must become a part of the history syllabus, said Sunduvan Sabah Chairman Aloysius Danim Siap.

He said the NGO is determined to make it compulsory.

“It is our hope that the tragedy can be taught in every school so the younger generation do not forget how it drastically changed the political landscape of Sabah.

“Let this black moment in history be a memory and a guide for all of us,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Sunduvan Sabah invites all Sabahans to come together to commemorate the victims of the double six tragedy this Thursday (June 6).

The ceremony will be held at 9 am while those present are encouraged to wear black.

Every year since 2012, Sunduvan Sabah has been organising a commemoration of the victims of the Nomad N-22B 9M-ATZ plane, which crashed on June 6, 1976.

The main purpose of each event is to demand the government release the Double Six crash investigation report which was previously classified as an official secret under Section 2C of the Official Secrets Act 1972, Act 88.

The struggle continued until the Double-Six Tragedy investigation report, was declassified on April 6, 2023.

“We are grateful that our struggle and the people of Sabah are not in vain,” Aloysius said.
