Woman killed in Papar crash

PAPAR: A 44-year-old woman was killed after she was thrown out of a car that skidded and plunged into a drain (pic) at Jalan Kampung Kawang, Kinarut, here, Monday.
The woman, who was travelling with two other people in a Proton Persona, died on the spot during the accident.

It is learned that the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle due to slippery road conditions before it skidded and plunged into the drain about 50 metres away from the road.
A Sabah Fire and Rescue Department’s operation centre spokesman said a team of rescuers was deployed to the scene after they were alerted to the accident at 4.46pm.
“The team had to extricate one of the two men travelling in the car using special equipment. The other man was rescued by passers-by before the team arrived at the location.
“Both men, aged 16 and 39, were rushed to Papar Hospital for treatment,” he said.

The spokesman added that the body of the woman was handed over to the police for further investigation.
