SANDAKAN: It is ridiculous for related authorities to still do studies to determine new water source 17 months after the treated water supply problem here was raised by local leaders, said Sabah DAP Chairman Datuk Frankie Poon.
Poon, who is also the Chairman of Sabah Development Berhad and Tanjung Papat Assemblyman who was among the first to raise the problem, said he was shocked when informed that the Sandakan Water Department was still conducting studies.

“In a meeting on the progress of development of government projects in Sandakan on May 28, I took the opportunity to inquire the officer representing the Department on the situation and actions taken with regards to the seemingly unending supply of unpleasant high reading of total dissolved solids (TDS) treated water to Sandakan residents.
“To my shock, the Department is still conducting studies on the most suitable location for intake of raw water supply and matters related to it,” he said in a statement.
