Molesting daughter: Man to go on trial
The man was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 provides for a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: A 57-year-old self-employed charged with committing physical sexual harassment against his daughter will go trial in June this year.

Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan set June 11, 12 and 13 for the man’s hearing after he maintained his plea of not guilty.

The man is accused of committing the offence against his 10-year-old daughter by inserting his finger into the girl’s private part. 

He allegedly committed the offence in March 2022 at 2pm at house in Ranau.

The man was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 provides for a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.

Due to the relationship between him and the alleged victim, there is additional punishment under Section 16(1) of the same Act provides for a jail term of up to five years, and whipping at least two strokes, on conviction.

Pending the disposal of his case, the man was ordered remanded further.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Suriyati Jumain appeared for the prosecution while the man was not represented.
